Scimeca's commitment to Kansas City began nearly 100 years ago, and that commitment has solidified through our unwavering dedication to product integrity and community involvement. Following his service to the U.S. Army Air Corps as a member of the 24th Fighter Central Squadron in WWII, Frank "Chico" Scimeca opened Scimeca's Market in 1935. Working alongside his father, Fillipo, and brother Louis, Scimeca's Market quickly gained a reputation in Kansas City for providing fresh and specialty groceries to area families. There, at the Independence Avenue store, customers sought the Scimeca's family recipe of Italian sausage products.
Noticing a need to expand on the Scimeca's Italian Sausage tradition of excellence, Chico's son, Phil, and grandson, Frank, have been supplying Kansas City and surrounding markets through their USDA approved facility for over 20 years. Here, at our production plant, customers and employees are treated just like family. In fact, most of our team members have been employed with Scimeca's since opening, and we are honored by our employee and customer satisfaction. Our recipes remain clandestine and consistent, with our team taking pride in producing family recipes, made fresh to order!
